What is the clear gooey discharge

Stretchy Vaginal Discharge and Its Variations. Normal vaginal discharge is mucous, slightly cloudy and not too abundant. Actually, it can`t be absolutely clear because it contains a lot of admixtures, such as: cells of vaginal epithelium, lymphatic transudates, cervical mucus, microorganisms and secretions, produced by sweat and sebaceous glands. Clear vaginal discharge is an often common and normal symptom from the female reproductive system.


Clear stretchy discharge is a sign of ovulation, while clear watery vaginal discharge occurs between periods, sexual arousal, or pregnancy.

Clear Sticky Discharge The purposes of the normal vaginal discharge include moistening and cleaning the vagina, and preventing and fighting infections. The texture, amount and color of vaginal fluids vary across the menstrual cycle. If it is clear and stretchy and only happens for a few days each cycle it is most likely to be the mucous associated with ovulation. A clear sticky discharge that occurs a few days prior to the start of your menstrual period is not abnormal, and it a sign your period will begin in a few days.
