Absolute zero is the lowest limit of the thermodynamic temperature scale, a state at which the enthalpy and entropy of a cooled ideal gas reach their minimum value, taken as zero kelvin (K, not 0°K). In 184 Kelvin used this as a basis for an absolute temperature scale. He defined absolute as the temperature at which molecules would stop moving, or infinite cold. Absolute temperatures are stated in units of kelvin in his honour.
