A relatively new development in teaching methods respecting the individual psychological and sociological needs of the student, there are bursaries, scholarships and grants available to teachers wishing to explore this method of student-teacher interaction. Teachers act as role models for a diverse student body, so qualified educators must be drawn from a wide cross-section of cultures and social groups. Some teaching scholarships specifically promote diversity by offering incentives to minorities and other groups that are under-represented in the field of education. The American Association for Employment in Education offers two $4scholarships to students attending colleges that partner with the organization and who are currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program.

Porter Scholars ProgramThis program offers four 4-year, $0post-secondary scholarships to students who are dependents of AFT members, as well as one-time $0grants to AFT members.
