It had a good assortment of Apps but the one I was most interested in was the Slingbox. Although it loaded much faster than the Netgear unit, it too, was unable to connect to the Slingbox. This feature is not available right now. I returned it and bought a WDTV Live.
It played of the files I tried. There is a USB port on the side of the NTV300SL. If you put the file on a USB drive and plug it into the Netgear NeoTV it will automatically recognize it within seconds and prompt for the firmware update.

My main goal was to view my slingbox on my tv. I was not aware that neo tv 3max was required for this neither was i told at the ces show at the slingbox booth ,they only told me to get netgear neotv that is it.
