Spanish wedding cookies

Shape into small, almost bite size cookies (round balls). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 3degrees. Bake until light golden brown, to minutes.

I made this recipe for a Spanish project for the whole class.

It turned out bsolutely amazing and everyone loved them. My mom and I have been baking these for as long as I can remember. They also make a wonderful addition to any Christmas goodie platter.

These cookies don’t have egg to bind them, so they’re crumbly instead of chewy. This makes them more like shortbread than, say, sugar cookies. Those crushed nuts in the dough also give these cookies their addictive flavor.

Spanish wedding cookies significance is that these delicacies prepared with high quality ingredients symbolizes a rich and blissful married life for the couple.

It is said that the white color of powdered sugar coating represents purity. Apart from weddings , these cookies are often served during special occasions, festivals and holidays. A traditional recipe, they’re an easy dessert to make for weddings, Christmas, holidays or any day of the year!

The powdered sugar coating makes them look like snowballs! These tasty treats use just five ingredients and need only minutes of prep time. Some believe the recipe originated in Eastern Europe.

It makes a lot of cookies , it’s simple, and the resulting cookies are beyond easy to eat. Okay, maybe that last thing. Mantecados are small shortbread sugar cookies that require just a few ingredients and very little time to prepare. The name mantecados comes from the Spanish word manteca, which means fat or lard.

The ingredients are mixed together and either rolled into small balls or shaped into crescent moons. Working with one cookie at a time, toss in cinnamon sugar until thoroughly coated. D on’t get fooled by the name, these cookies will make a great addition to your favorite holiday cookies. Some years ago, when my son was still in elementary school and before we started homeschooling, we always used to bake these cookies for his teachers, and for our neighbors around Christmas time.

Now he’s a young man and those days of cookie -baking together are just a sweet memory.

Most Spanish wedding ceremonies and receptions take place in the evening. This is largely because the Spanish dinner hour is late in the day. During the reception, there's a great deal of food and dancing.

The food typically consists of almond wedding cookies , seafoo an abundance of wine, and a wedding cake filled with fruit or nuts. Arrange cookies on a greased or parchment lined cookie sheet and bake for about minutes, or until golden. Allow to cool briefly on the cookie sheet as they are delicate when warm.

When cool, coat with confectioner's sugar. These Biscochitos, which are kind of like butter cookies or shortbread with a delightful anise and cinnamon flavor, are especially popular during the Christmas season here in the South West and are part of our holiday traditions. Aside from the bouquet toss, single ladies at the party are expected to wear special pins upside down. If the pin is lost, that woman will be next in line to marry. Wedding favors for the men are typically cigars, other favors include wedding cookies , Spanish hand fans, or some other local good such as pottery.
