Sleep by age

Sleep needs change as we age. Discover the hows and whys so that you can get back to those restful nights. In addition to changes in sleep duration, sleep patterns also change as we age. The report recommends wider appropriate sleep ranges for most age groups.

Nearly half of men and women over the age of say they have at least one sleep problem. From birth to older age , sleep changes a lot as you move through your life.

Improving sleep quality may be helped by better sleep habits or being diagnosed and treated for any sleep disorder you may have. If we fail to get enough sleep , it can adversely affect our mental and physical health. In general, children need more sleep than adults. People will often cut back on their sleep for work, for family demands, or even to watch a good show on television. But if not getting enough sleep is a regular part of your. Ever wondered why babies need lots of sleep ? Or why teenagers are practically nocturnal?

Children and teens need even more. And despite the notion that our sleep needs decrease with age , most older people still need at least hours of sleep.
