Chinese symbols for animals

Chinese Animal Symbol Meanings. They are artistically represented in drawings, embroidered on clothing, painted on houses, and formed into statues all over China as harbingers of wealth, good luck, etc. Earth Pig starting from Feb. Just like body parts, many of these characters look somewhat similar to the animals they represent.

For example, the ancient glyph 羊 (yáng), seen below, is like a sheep head with curved horns.

Even the lower lip is indicated clearly. Similarly,牛 ( niú ) is in the shape of an animal’s head as well horns. The 12-year cycle is an approximation to the 11. The first invitation was to the Rat who was asked to invite Cat too. Rat conveniently “forgot” that invitation.

Each year in the cycle is represented by one animal, and people’s sign is determined by their birth year. A Rat year occurs every years. Let’s begin with the most evil animal symbol.

Bats are regarded as symbols of death, superstition, fear, night, and cult. They are often mixed up with witchcraft and occults in the Western folktales. Only animals came to bid him farewell. As a reward he named a year after each other one in the order that they arrived. Thus we have signs today.

The Year of the Dog is associated with the earthly branch symbol. Some of the signs can be compatible but some may not get along well with each other. Curious about whether you are compatible with your love, parents, friends, relatives,. The butterfly is most commonly used to symbolize love, but more specifically, young love. There is even a story behind this symbolism.

He promised each of them a rewar on the condition that they would pay him a visit. Only twelve animals went to the meeting. To find out what creature you are, you can use this chart. Keeping the symbols of these animals , their pictures or the animals themselves at home or around the house is extremely beneficial for the favorable energies that they bring to our lives. These animals are: fu dogs, dragons, goldfish, three-legged frogs, bats, cranes, elephants and turtles.

There are of them in total, an unlike in Western astrology, each represents an entire year rather than a month. Buddha then offered each of the animals a year.

Tiger is the king of the animals who has power and high position. Lion stands for authority, mighty power, and majesty, especially to describe a king in the ancient China. Animals Bat (fu 蝠) The bat is a symbol of happiness and joy. Five bats together represent the ‘Five Blessings’ (wufu 五福): long life, wealth, health, love of virtue and a peaceful death.

Dragons symbolise adaptability as they are capable of transformations, they also symbolise power and they are the highest symbol of good luck in the animal kingdom. When the Elements are properly balanced the life force (Chi) flows positively. When they’re lopsided that flow gets hinky leaving a person feeling out of sync in body, mind or spirit (or all three!).

Part of the learning process is discovering and gaining knowledge about other cultures.
